Festival FAQs

Q1 - Can I bring my dog to the festival?

Answer: At Winter Harvest Festival we have poultry, camels and other livestock on-site. We ask that you leave dogs and all other domestic animals at home, with the exception of service or assistance animals. This generally applies when visiting working farms in region and it is always best to check direct with the event holder.

Q2 - Can I buy tickets at the gate?

Answer: We cannot 100% confirm gate sales will be available. If we reach event capacity before the day, gate sales will not be offered. Last year we reached event capacity on the day. We encourage you to pre-purchase to secure your tickets even if it just a few days before the event. You will also save $5 on each Adult/Youth ticket as gate tickets are more expensive at $20, compared to $15 online. You can purchase tickets on-line here.

Q3 - Where do I park at the event?

Answer: Ample FREE event parking is available at the Kalbar Showgrounds, accessed off Edward Street. There will be some road closures and traffic diversions in place for the festival and we ask that you follow the direction of traffic controllers and event staff and volunteers at all times. Accessible parking is also available on Edward Street.

Should you park in surrounding streets, we ask that you do not park over resident driveways.

Q4 - Will road closures be in place and how will that impact access to local shops?

Answer: Winter Harvest Festival will be held across several venues in Kalbar, including on George Street (between Edward Street and William Street), in Kalbar Civic Centre and park, and on the Salvation Army grounds. The road closure of the section of George Street will be in place from 6am Friday 28 June through to Midnight Saturday 29 June. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times to local businesses in this section of George Street, except during 9am – 5pm on Saturday 29 June when the event is taking place.

Consultation has taken place with impacted businesses and residents to ensure minimum disruption and access is maintained on the Friday during event set up.

If you have any questions or concerns we encourage you to reach out to the Regional Events team on 5540 5111. We are committed to working closely with local residents and businesses to minimise impacts and ensure the event is a success for the community of Kalbar.

Q5 - Will there be traffic congestion?

Answer: Some traffic congestion is to be expected and we ask that you add an additional 30mins to your trip. If you are coming from Brisbane, Springfield, Ipswich or Toowoomba, please be aware that Willowbank Raceway may have an event on the same day and we recommend that you consider the following alternate routes to Kalbar:

Coming from Brisbane/Springfield/Ipswich

If you’re coming from Brisbane/Springfield/Ipswich along the Cunningham Highway (M15) or Centenary Highway (A5), take the “Boonah, Ipswich Exit” to Ipswich-Boonah Road.

Travel along Ipswich Boonah Road for approximately 15 minutes, where you will come to a little town called Peak Crossing. At “The Peak Pub” in the centre of town, turn right on to Warrill View-Peak Crossing Road towards “Kalbar, Harrisville”.

Travel the many twists and turns along this road for approximately 20 minutes, which will bring you straight in to Kalbar. You will be directed on to Edward Street, where you will find car parking at the Kalbar Showgrounds.

Coming from Toowoomba

If you’re joining us from Toowoomba and would like to come in from the north, travel along the Warrego Highway, and take the “Haigslea-Amberley Road Exit”. This will take you through Walloon, past the RAAF Base and out to the Cunningham Highway at Amberley. Turn left onto the Cunningham Highway, and after approximately two minutes, take the “Ipswich, Boonah, Springfield Exit” to Ipswich-Boonah Road.
