The Tommerup family are proud small-scale dairy farmers. They’re sixth-generation farmers, based in the Kerry Valley south of Beaudesert.
Kay and Dave Tommerup spoke to ABC Landline’s Pip Courtney recently, sharing the story of how they have diversified from milk production to agri-tourism and how the move has meant they can stay on the farm that’s been in the family since 1874.
The family is hosting some exciting events in the lead-up to Scenic Rim Eat Local Week.
- Spoil mum at a Mother’s Day picnic with a difference on Sunday, May 13. Meet the farm animals, take an animal feeding adventure, shop from the market stalls and pre-order a gourmet picnic hamper or cheese platter to share. Bookings are essential
- You can visit the Tommerup Farm on May 26, for a long-table lunch in conjunction with Wild Canary botanical restaurant. Book your spot now
- During Scenic Rim Eat Local Week, secure your backstage pass to the farm and meet the resident animals, ask lots of questions and eat and drink the farm-fresh goodies. The Farmgate Festival is being held on June 30, tickets will be available online nearer the time.
