The QAGOMA-Scenic Rim Eat Local Week Culinary Internship has been awarded to three of the region’s leading chefs.
Eat Local Week ambassador and QAGOMA Executive Chef, Josue Lopez, announced the winners at the launch of Eat Local Week 2015 on May 20.
Kate Raymont of Hinterland Harvest Catering, Terri Taylor from the Tamborine Cooking School, and Samantha Savery from The Royal Hotel Harrisville, are the joint internship winners.
They will spend a day embedded with the expert QAGOMA kitchen team to help produce an exclusive Scenic Rim seven-course degustation menu at the GOMA Restaurant in Brisbane on Saturday June 13.
Josh is a passionate advocate for using seasonal, local ingredients and for sharing his knowledge and experience with others.
“I’m thrilled that we are able to offer this opportunity to the three passionate cooks from the Scenic Rim to come into our kitchen and work with my team to prepare and serve the degustation experience,” says Josh.
“It’s a unique chance for them see how GOMA restaurant operates from concept to service. I hope they’ll be inspired by learning contemporary culinary techniques which are all about elevating the local produce.”
Scenic Rim Mayor, John Brent, congratulated the winners, who are all well-known food innovators within the region’s catering community.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for Kate, Terri and Sammy, who are all passionate advocates for the superb ingredients that are produced in the Scenic Rim,” says Cr Brent.

“The QAGOMA partnership, combined with Josh’s enormous generosity and culinary stewardship, will enable these women take their skills and experience to the next level. About Scenic Rim Eat Local Week
Eat Local Week runs from June 27 to July 5 and is a showcase of the Scenic Rim’s fine foods and producers, featuring farm tours, cooking classes and producer dinners, culminating with the signature event, the Winter Harvest Festival on Saturday July 4.
About QAGOMA Scenic Rim Discovery & Degustation
QAGOMA Executive Chef, Josh Lopez, will lead a full-day tour of Scenic Rim food producers on Saturday June 13.
The tour includes visits to local cheese, olive and wine producers and will conclude with a seven-course degustation at the award-winning GOMA Restaurant that night. Each course will shine a spotlight on produce from the Scenic Rim providores visited during the day and will be matched with regional wines.
