The Festival Backstory
The event began in 2011 as Scenic Rim Eat Local Week, initially featuring 25 events to an audience of 900. Now, the month-long event takes place annually in June featuring over 120 events, allowing visitors to connect with farmers, producers, artesians, brewers and butchers. This harvest celebration features farm-gate events, hands-on workshops, masterclasses, and culinary experiences for foodies of all ages.
The month-long food and farming celebratinon culminates in the Winter Harvest Festival, Scenic Rim Eat Local Month’s signature event. Here, Scenic Rim Food Ambassadors and local producers showcase their passion for food and share their expertise, offering valuable insights into how our fresh produce makes its way to restaurants, kitchens, and tables across Australia. Enjoy live music, browse fresh produce stalls, watch engaging cooking demonstrations and experience good old fashioned country hospitality.
Scenic Rim Eat Local Month and the Winter Harvest Festival are curated by Scenic Rim Regional Council’s Regional Prosperity and Communications Team. The event is supported by the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland, as part of a growing calendar of sporting, cultural, regional events throughout the state.
