The 2019 Winter Harvest Festival, Eat Local Week’s signature event, will be the biggest yet – with more than 70 market stalls, celebrity chef cooking demonstrations, food-themed fashions on the field and a smorgasbord of local food and wine to try.
The Winter Harvest Festival will be staged on Saturday, July 6 at the Aratula Community Sports Complex.
Gates open at 10am and tickets are available at the gate (adults $10, children under 12 are free). Remember the first 1000 people through the gates receive a free reusable Winter Harvest Festival souvenir shopping bag.
The fun runs through until 4pm with a packed schedule of food, drink, cooking demonstrations, kids’ rides and activities, live music, fashions on the field and the tractor pulling competition.
This year’s festival features more than 70 market stalls selling everything from local vegetables to eggs, cheese, olives, relishes and jams, honey, camel milk products, carrot ice-cream, beer, and wine.

Fashions on the Field
For the very first time the Winter Harvest Festival will have a Fashions on the Field competition.
Come dressed in your very best food-inspired outfits (remembering the focus must be on food and drinks produced locally in the Scenic Rim) and model it on the catwalk for all to see!
This all-ages competition will be judged by Chloe and Kate – the sisters behind Jericho Road Clothing – with sponsorship from Kalfresh Vegetables.
The winner will get $250 prize money, and there’ll also be a special judges award of $150, so put your best foodie foot forward and dress to impress!

There will be live music all day, performed by local musicians Ross Weber and Dilly.
The Queensland Urban Utilities water-filling station will return so remember to BYO water bottle and stay hydrated, because all this eating is thirsty work!
Celebrity chef cooking demonstrations will be run throughout the day, led by Scenic Rim Regional Food Ambassadoers:
- MasterChef 2017 runner-up Ben Ungermann,
- Spicers Hidden Vale’s Ash Martin
- Wild Canary’s Glen Barratt, and
- Richard Ousby.
Ungermann Brothers will also have a stand, selling Ben’s unique Scenic Rim Eat Local Week ice-creams and sorbets, made with local beer, finger limes, carrots and more.
Queensland’s leading food authority, and Scenic Rim Regional Food Ambassador Alison Alexander will be MC, sharing her food and farming insights.
The popular, and hotly contested Kalbar & District Bendigo Community Bank Tractor Pulling Competition will return. Teams of men, women, and children will test themselves against heavy commercial-scale tractors, competing for the glory and for funds for their community and sporting groups.
